Employment Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a U.S. Citizen to work at Americans for the Arts?
No, but you must have the appropriate documentation authorizing you to work in the United States.
What information is needed to apply for a position?
We ask that you submit your resume, cover letter, salary requirements, and professional references for each position that interests you. If needed, we will contact you for more information.
Can I call your office to inquire about the status of my application?
We respectfully request that you refrain from contacting our office to check the status of your application. Unfortunately, due to the number of responses received for each available position, it does put a strain on our staff. We will contact you if we wish to proceed with your application. If you submit your application, you will receive a message acknowledging your submission.
What if I am interested in a position that isn’t listed on your website?
If your area of expertise is not currently sought by Americans for the Arts, you may still submit an application and indicate in your cover letter what type of position you seek.
I am a student who is interested in learning more about a career in the arts. May I set up an informational interview?
It may be possible to set up a time for a discussion with a member of either our field services or human resources staff members. You may submit a request via e-mail at resume@artsusa.org.
May I receive feedback on my resume?
Due to the number of applications received, we do not have the resources to provide individual feedback to all applicants.
If you have other general questions regarding the recruitment process, please contact us at resume@artsusa.org.
