Gladstone Payton
Associate Director of Federal Affairs

Gladstone Payton serves as the associate director for federal affairs at Americans for the Arts. In his capacity as associate director, Gladstone is responsible for advancing the legislative agenda of American for the Arts and for the promotion of public policies that aid the arts in Congress. His lobbying efforts will primarily be focused on the House of Representatives, but he is also involved in supporting the general counsel and director of federal affairs in promoting arts education, assisting in the planning and execution of Arts Advocacy Day, ArtsVote, and researching new funding opportunities for the arts.

Gladstone has 13 years of experience in Congress, electoral politics, and nonprofit advocacy having worked for former House Democratic Whip David Bonior, managed successful state house race campaigns, clerked for the federal bench, and recently held a senior staff position with Alliance for Justice as its director of outreach. Gladstone graduated with a degree in political science and history from the University of Michigan, and also has a J.D. from the Howard University School of Law.
