Description:

Projected from a very low angle, brilliant emerald green laser light skims the surface of the lawn in an urban park, transforming the mundane into the magical as grass blades come alive with a variety of kinetic patterns. With forty million acres of land devoted to turf grass in the United States, the commonplace lawn is taken for granted, but now Emerald Laser Lawn invites visitors to experience the ubiquitous lawn in imaginative new and memorable ways. Three green diode lasers permanently mounted in a secure box under a standard park bench are triggered by hidden sensors that randomly activate 12 different sequences and patterns lasting 1-7 minutes each. A wide variety of dynamic and intriguing effects and patterns can be seen, with the light sometimes appearing to undulate in slow waves across the park and other times pulsing quickly or sweeping across the lawn with children and dogs in pursuit of the ephemeral imagery.
