Plan to arrive before 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening and attend a welcoming joint pre-conference reception at the Frist Center for the Arts, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Agenda for the Day (Tentative)
- 8:30 a.m.: Coffee
- 9:00 a.m.: Announcements, approval of February minutes, city highlights
We are going to try a new method for delivering city reports at the summer meeting.
UAF secretary Liz Eickman has agreed to compile our city reports in advance and have them as handouts at the meeting. She can only do this if you e-mail your report to her in advance, leickman@artscouncil.okc.com by May 15th. Make your report succinct—we urge you to use bullet points and limit your report to no more than one page. Send a report, even if you cannot make the meeting.
At the meeting we will maintain a time limit of 3-5 minutes a person for you to talk about a special project or study you are working on, a great idea you have or just entertaining stories (challenges) of your life as an urban arts administrator! - 11:00 a.m.: Reports from Americans for the Arts on the education PSA campaign, the economic impact study and their plans for the future. Hopefully a representative from the NEA will also join us.
- 12:30 p.m.: Lunch/discussion/telephone calls
- 1:30 p.m.: Arts education discussion including reports from the cities that are doing arts education surveys
- 3:00 p.m.: Planning and discussion of the winter, 2003 meeting
- 4:00 p.m.: New Business
