Philadelphia in June—A great place for families and friends!

Washington and Wandering: The Beauty of New Hope

$45.00 per person

Friday, June 20
9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

We’ll board our deluxe transportation for a full-day tour to nearby Bucks County: home of Pearl S. Buck, William Penn (founder of Philadelphia), Saint Katharine Drexel, Oscar Hammerstein, James A. Michener, and Robert & Joyce Byers (of Byers Choice® figurines), as well as the popular artist colony of New Hope, PA.

We’ll begin at Washington Crossing Historic Park. This strategic location on the Delaware River proved a natural barricade, behind which George Washington planned his successful surprise attack on the Hessian garrison across the river at Trenton, NJ, a turning point of the war. His victory bolstered sagging morale, changing the course of the American Revolution. The 500-acre site and recreational area includes 13 historic buildings.

A few miles up-river we’ll reach New Hope in time for lunch on your own. In the 1920's and 30's, the village of New Hope became the center of a flourishing art colony spread among the farms and hamlets of the area.

Today, New Hope, nestled along the beauty of the Delaware River, boasts scores of unique restaurants, shops, and art galleries where you’ll have several hours to wander, shop, eat, and relax. Significant walking; wear comfortable shoes and bring sun screen.
