The American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works (AIC) exists to support the conservation professionals who preserve our cultural heritage.  As the only national membership organization in the United States dedicated to the preservation of cultural material, the AIC plays a crucial role in establishing and upholding professional standards, promoting research and publications, providing educational opportunities, and fostering the exchange of knowledge among conservators, allied professionals, and the public.  From a handful of members in 1972, the AIC has grown to over 3,500 conservators, educators, scientists, students, archivists, art historians, and other conservation enthusiasts in over twenty countries around the world, all of whom have the same goal: to preserve the material evidence of our past so we can learn from it today and appreciate it in the future.

OPERA America

“As we learned at the recent National Performing Arts Convention in Denver, the arts gain strength from working together. National Arts and Humanities Month gives all arts stakeholders—artists, administrators and audiences—a chance to affirm the importance of the arts to healthy communities and to increase public awareness and support for an environment that is conducive to our success.” — Marc A. Scorca, president and CEO of OPERA America

OPERA America serves the field of professional opera and related organizations. In the United States, it counts 114 professional companies in 43 states in its membership. It also serves 19 professional companies in six provinces in Canada, which are members of Opera.ca. Over half of these companies were established after 1970, and one quarter of the total were established since 1980, making the growth of opera throughout North America a relatively new phenomenon. In addition to its North American membership, OPERA America works in partnership with Opera Europa to serve 91 affiliated companies in Europe as well as serving four additional companies from around the globe.
