Creativity Connection at the National Science Foundation

Houston's Secret: Harnessing Creative Energy for Bottom-Line Results

This day-long program provided attendees with background knowledge about the impact creativity can have on the business world, and the practical applications of arts-based learning in the workplace. A panel of experts on arts-based learning, including Creativity Connection director Harvey Seifter, discussed how creativity can be the link to conceptual and critical thinking that helps individuals and businesses become more effective. Then, Creativity Connection's Second City Communications led an interactive workshop to teach the techniques used but The Second City's world-renowned improvisational actors to improve innovation, creativity, and communication in constantly changing environments.

Closing the Innovation Deficit: Arts-Based Learning and the Creative Workforce

While 81 percent of American corporate leaders surveyed by the Conference Board consider "creativity" an essential skill for the 21st century workforce, only 21 percent reported excellence in this area among recent college graduates seeking employment with their companies.
