arts education funding opportunities

Recently, nonprofit and governmental arts groups as well as individual artists have faced funding gaps and budget shortfalls during the nation’s economic downturn. In addition to the $50 million in National Endowment for the Arts recovery funds, Americans for the Arts has identified additional funding resources in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (a.k.a. stimulus bill) that could be available for the arts, specifically arts education.


U.S. Department of Education

General Description
Competitive grants, formula grants Local educational agencies, state agencies and other entities $53.6 billion for State Fiscal Stabilization Fund $12.2 billion for Special Education $13 billion for Title I $650 million for Education Technology $100 million for Teacher Quality State Grants Programs

Purpose or Dates
Spending priorities set by Governor and/or through formula grants to Local Education Agency. 81.8% of Stabilization Fund can be used for elementary, secondary purposes. 18.2% can include education modernizations renovation and repair.
