arts education at americans for the arts

Learning and participation in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts are vital to the development of our children and our communities. Through advocacy, research, partnerships, and professional development, Americans for the Arts strives to provide and secure more resources and support for arts education.

Active Networks and Timely Information
The 2009 Annual Convention will be held in Seattle, June 18–20.

Handouts from our previous conventions are online. The 2008 convention showcased new information and offered consultant-level services to attendees. In 2007, attendees discussed advanced practice, trends in the field, and innovative models. In 2006, sustainability was our concern.

Arts Education Advocacy

Americans for the Arts leverages the support of advocates across the country to create policy that increases the stability of arts education.

Arts Education Research and Information

Arts education is a vast, diverse, and complex field. Well informed and executed research benefits the field of arts education through improved practice, effective tools for advocacy, and increased appreciation for arts education. Americans for the Arts hosts a live database of current arts education research, program profiles, news, and other information.

Arts Education Publications and Services

Americans for the Arts provides services, publications, partnerships, and conferences to arts education professionals who work to improve access to and quality in arts education. The Arts Education Council provides guidance on those services.

Arts Education in Public Schools

Americans for the Arts hosts three efforts to effect positive change for arts education. The first is our Arts Education and No Child Left Behind resource; the second is a storehouse of tools to grow arts education in schools; the third is our national pubil awareness campaign.
