Emerging Leader Council
Committees
The Americans for the Emerging Leader Council currently oversees the following five standing committees:
In addition, ad hoc committees with specific tasks may be formed on an as-needed basis. A Preconference Planning Committee is assembled and convened every other year, January–June, in preparation for the biennial Emerging Leader Preconference or leadership component of the annual convention. An Emerging Leader Award Committee is assembled and convened in the fall to discuss criteria and guidelines for the Americans for the Arts Emerging Leader Award presented annually at the Americans for the Arts Annual Convention. These ad-hoc committees are composed on volunteers from the Emerging Leader Council.

Governance Committee
The role of the Governance Committee is to provide core governance to the Emerging Leader Council as needed. The responsibilities of this committee include:
- Reviewing the Emerging Leader Council operating procedures on an annual basis or as needed.
- Reviewing all nominations to the Emerging Leader Council during annual elections and selecting a slate of nominees to present to the field at-large for voting.
- Nominating individuals for the position of chair, vice chair, and submitting this slate to the ELC at-large for final voting.
Expanding Relations Committee
The role of the Expanding Relations Committee is to strengthen the network of emerging leader programs within the arts field and to foster strategic relationships with other regional, national, and international organizations that will support the mission of the Emerging Leader Council.
Funding Advisory Committee
The role of the Funding Advisory Committee is to provide guidance to the fundraising staff of Americans for the Arts in its work to enhance resources for the existing activities and continued expansion of the Emerging Leaders Network. The committee's charge is to advance funding opportunities and identify needs on behalf of the field of emerging arts leaders, and to support the fundraising efforts of Americans for the Arts by providing needed information and a sounding board of ideas.
Meetings and Convenings Committee
The role of the Meetings and Convenings Committee is to aid in the development of emerging leader networking opportunities and/or community meetings, and to provide a presence for the emerging leader program at the Americans for the Arts Annual Convention. The responsibilities of this committee include coordinating the logistics and marketing of:
- The Arts Advocacy Day Emerging Leader Reception, held annually in March
- The Emerging Leader peer group meetings at the annual convention
- The Emerging Leader Reception at the annual convention
- The Emerging Leadership Exchange at the annual convention
- The Emerging Arts Leaders creative conversations held annually in October
Web and Listserv Committee
The role of the Web and Listserv Committee is to advise Americans for the Arts on expanding the electronic presence of emerging leaders and fostering interaction using online technologies. The responsibilities of this committee include:
- Developing the content on the emerging leader web page of the Americans for the Arts website.
- Updating the emerging leader web page content on a quarterly basis.
- Providing an e-newsletter to the network that links to topics on the website on a quarterly basis.
- Overseeing and prompting conversation on the emerging leader listserv.
