events

Every year the Americans for the Arts Emerging Leaders Network offers a broad range of events. Most major Americans for the Arts convenings contain an emerging leader component, but the network also organizes separate events. These events include preconferences, receptions, and creative conversations, facilitating both professional and social interactions among emerging leaders. In doing so, the program aims to promote a skilled, cohesive, and well-informed generation of arts leaders. Our events facilitate peer support and the exchange of ideas among the next generation of arts leaders.

Convention Activities
Since the inception of the Americans for the Arts Emerging Leader Network in 1999, more and more emerging leader-related activities have taken place at the annual convention every year. Learn more about the emerging leader activities and opportunities that Americans for the Arts provides at the Annual Convention.

Creative Conversations
Every year during National Arts & Humanities Month in October, Americans for the Arts partners with emerging arts leaders nationwide to host creative conversations. Find out how to host a creative conversation in your community.

Receptions
Americans for the Arts annually hosts receptions for emerging leaders at Arts Advocacy Day and the Annual Convention. These informal events allow emerging leaders to network, relax, and have fun after participating in the stimulating program they've attended all day.

  • Annual Convention Emerging Leaders Reception
Americans for the Arts hosted an emerging leaders reception on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the swanky Yaffa Restaurant & Lounge in Milwaukee, WI. The plush decor and signature martinis provided the perfect backdrop to a successful and fun networking event.

Preconferences
Americans for the Arts has hosted two emerging leader preconferences to promote the professional development of emerging arts leaders nationwide. Check out the events section of Americans for the Arts website to read about our previous preconferences in 2003 and 2005.
