Annual Elections Information

The Americans for the Arts Public Art Network (PAN) Council will hold elections for six seats to serve terms from January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2011. Four of the six seats are current PAN Council members running for a second, three-year term. Special thanks is extended to our two PAN Council members, Chair, Jill Manton and Ricardo Barreto who have served two three-year terms that end December 31.

The Public Art Network (PAN) Council is a nationally elected advisory body to Americans for the Arts and assists in developing policies, programs. and resources to promote knowledge and understanding of the broad field of public art. To achieve these goals, the PAN Council:

  • Provides tools and resources to strengthen the field, including annotated contracts, best practices, professional development education, resource guides, and the PAN listserv.
  • Advocates for the support of public art.
  • Expands participation in the field of public art.
  • Fosters knowledge and understanding of the diversity of public art.
  • Coordinates the Public Art Track for the annual Americans for the Arts Convention.

Council Nomination Submission Process

Interested Americans for the Arts professional members may nominate themselves or colleagues for open seats on the PAN Council.

  • Nomination Form
  • 250-word biographical statement, to be included in the Nomination Form (text beyond 250 words will be deleted)
  • One-page letter of interest explaining why you wish to join the PAN Council. Please reference your public art interests, professional background, and any areas of expertise. If you are submitting a nomination for someone other than yourself, explain why you think the nominee's experience would best serve the Council. Letter will be included in online election ballot materials.
  • One-page resume (additional pages will be deleted)
  • Headshot (300 dpi minimum quality for web and possible print use)
