Michael Greene

Michael Greene is the president and CEO of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc., and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. He took the reins of the Recording Academy as chairman in 1986, and later a president and CEO in 1988. During his tenure, he has led the growth of the Academy’s membership from 3,200 to 17,000 music industry professionals, and he has grown the annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony to become the world’s premier music event. Greene is also president of the Academy’s two non-profit arms, the GRAMMY Foundation and the MusiCares Foundation. Greene is the national corporate spokesperson for the American Music Therapy Association and has received honorary doctorate degrees from both the University of Southern California and The Berklee School of Music. The son of a Big Band leader, Greene has been involved with music all of his life, He began his career as a recording artist and producer before segueing to president of Apogee.
