Public Leadership in the Arts
The National Public Leadership in the Arts Awards are given in recognition of an elected official whose role in advancement of the arts and arts education within his or her community and whose vision and leadership provide heightened visibility to the value of the arts.
Americans for the Arts is seeking nominations for the 2008 National Leadership in the Arts Awards. Currently, the County (Governing Board), Lieutenant Governor, and State Legislator categories are open for nominations. The County (Governing Board) Award will be presented at the National Association of Counties (NACO) annual meeting in Kansas City from July 11–15, 2008. The Lieutenant Governor Award is presented in partnership with the Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) at their annual meeting in Buffalo, NY from July 23–26, 2008. The State Legislator Award is presented in partnership with the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) at their annual meeting in New Orleans from July 22–26, 2008.
The Gubernatorial and Mayoral Awards have been closed for nominations and will be presented at the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) meeting in Miami from June 20–24, 2008. The Congressional Award will be presented at the Congressional Arts Breakfast during Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, on April 1, 2008.
