Public Leadership in the Arts
The National Public Leadership in the Arts Awards are given in recognition of an elected official or artist who plays an important role in the advancement of the arts and arts education within his or her community, and whose vision and leadership provide heightened visibility to the value of the arts.
Three 2009 National Leadership in the Arts Awards are currently open for nominations. The Gubernatorial and Mayoral Awards will be presented at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting in Washington, DC, January 17–19, 2009 and the Congressional Award will be presented at the Congressional Arts Breakfast during Arts Advocacy Day on March 31, 2009 in Washington, DC. The deadline for nominations for the Gubernatorial and Mayoral Awards is November 15, 2008 and the Congressional Award deadline is January 15, 2009.
The County (Governing Board), Lieutenant Governor, and State Legislator categories are presented throughout the summer months.
