Prime Time Public Service Announcements

For the second straight year, CBS has joined with Americans for the Arts to develop The Arts Enrich Us All, a public service campaign about the role of the arts in the lives of all Americans.

In celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month, October marks the kick off of this national visibility campaign with public service announcements (PSAs) featuring CBS notables Dan Rather, Christine Lahti, Dick Van Dyke, Della Reese, Hector Elizondo, Don Johnson and others. The PSAs premiered during last Sunday night's episode of "Touched By An Angel," reaching more than 20 million people. The spots will continue to run prime time this month during the following programs:

  • The Nanny - 10/7
  • Cosby - 10/12
  • The Nanny -10/14
  • Early Edition - 10/17
  • Kids Say The Darndest Things - 10/23
  • Touched By An Angel - 10/25
  • Early Edition - 10/31

This PSA campaign was announced last month by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at a White House ceremony as part of Americans for the Arts' ongoing public awareness initiative to bring attention to the importance of the arts to young people. Our initiative, Youth ArtsUSA, includes the BRAVO'S 2000 National Arts Education Awards arts education campaign developed by BRAVO-The Film and Arts Network in cooperation with Americans for the Arts. BRAVO'S 2000 National Arts Education Awards PSAs featuring basketball legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar, actress Carol Burnett and New York Yankee Bernie Williams, among others, continue to air on BRAVO two to three times each hour, every day!

Americans for the Arts encourages you to watch CBS and BRAVO, and is grateful to both networks for their leadership in getting the word out about the importance of the arts and arts education. We are proud to be a part of these campaigns, and look forward to building on their success in the coming year.
