Michelle Laflamme-Childs is the Executive Director of New Mexico Arts, New Mexico’s state arts agency seated within the Department of Cultural Affairs. Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Michelle served as the Public Art Program Director for the state’s 1% for Art in Public Places Program (AIPP). New Mexico’s AIPP Program was established in 1986 and has resulted in approximately 3,000 public artworks spread throughout all 33 counties in the state. AIPP has three main program arms: site specific commissions, direct purchase initiatives, and temporary installation projects. Michelle comes from over 20 years of non-profit arts and for-profit marketing experience. She holds a BA from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MA from St. John’s College in the beautiful high-desert mountains of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
