PROJECT OVERVIEW

Title: Silent Communication: three murals
Photo Credit: Hall Puckett
Lead Artist(s):
Dixie Friend-Gay

Description:

This mosaic project was created for the new Life Science building at Sam Houston State University.
It celebrates the interdependence of life forces, the social network of plants, bacteria and animals. These images are inspired by the groundbreaking scientific discoveries to describe how plants communicate with each other and other species.

There are three murals in the lobby composed of hand-glazed mosaics with fused glass inserts for interior walls. Mosaic materials are hand-glazed ceramic and fused glass pieces that evoke the world thru a microscope.
