Accepting Diversity: A Multicultural Approach

GENERAL

Research Abstract
Accepting Diversity: A Multicultural Approach

This study, Accepting Diversity - A Multicultural Art Approach, was designed to assess the effect of classroom experience on students' responses to both Western and non-Western forms of visual expression. Throughout the course, the researcher took the position that her students would acquire a broader artistic base from which to respond to works and to justify their aesthetic judgments. Studio work was designed to provide cross-cultural understanding of forms and functions of art in diverse cultures. The students being studies were enrolled in an Art I course; their knowledge and attitudes were monitored along with their studio work and written critical responses. (p. 1)
