GENERAL
Paper presented at the Fourth International Conference on Cultural Economics held May 12-14, 1986, at the Palace of the Popes in Avignon, France.

Two past descriptive studies of consumer demand for books agree the primary determining variables of demand are education, income, and population. (p. 207) The authors make the following conclusion: On the whole, the price elasticity of supply seems to be much greater than the price elasticity of demand for books. (p. 215)
