No Monopoly on Creativity
The article provides information on the importance of the creative sector to the U.S. economy. Creativity is a virtually limitless resource. Every human being has creative potential that can be turned to valuable ends. The creative sector accounts for nearly half of all wage and salary income in the U.S. To achieve growth, a region must have technology, talent and tolerance. The tolerance and openness implied by the concentrations from a critical element in a place's ability to attract different kinds of people and generate new ideas. The real threat to the competitiveness of the country lies in restriction on research, scientific disclosure, immigration and flows of people, because those limits are starting to affect the ability to attract creative and talented people from around the world.
