Other Tax Funding for the Arts
A handful of respondents to the 2004 LAA survey noted other local tax programs that provide funding to their organizations. The cities sampled here were chosen for each having a relatively unique program in place. There are many other programs used across the country to fund arts and culture such as vanity license plates, video rental fees, golf fees, credit card programs, and utility bill late fees. However, very few of these programs are documented into city, county, or state law and were omitted from this report. This document includes samples of unique pieces of legislation from Kent, Washington; Mesa, Arizona; the state of Missouri; and San Francisco, California.
