GENERAL

Research Abstract
Perspectives: Creating and Producing Contemporary Opera and Musical Theater; A Series of Fifteen Monographs

This publication grew out of a need to look at the state of American contemporary opera and attempt to define some of its problems and to examine the forces that have presumably deterred the development of a vital indigenous opera in this country. We hope these articles, which range from the practical to the polemical, will provide fresh viewpoints and new approaches, ultimately serving as catalysts for change. [p ix].
