Parkinson's is a neurological disease that is physically debilitating and can be socially isolating. Dance is growing in popularity for people with Parkinson's and claims have been made for its benefits. The paper details a mixed-methods study that examined a 12-week dance project for people with Parkinson's, led by English National Ballet.

This study aimed at developing the Scale for Evaluating Music for Health Promotion (SEMHP) to select appropriate music types for targeted audiences in Lao PDR. Method: The SEMHP was first developed with 20 items in the Lao language following a qualitative study. Then, 183 students rated the SEMHP on three types of song (a traditional folk song [lam], a hip-hop song [hip-hop], a pop song [strings]). The data were analyzed by the principal axis factoring method with promax rotation.

To implement and evaluate eight sessions of group drumming for two groups of young female Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs) engaged in a rehabilitation programme in Mumbai, India. We argue for the importance of disabled persons’ access to creative expression. For disabled individuals, the development and enhancement of personhood may not be tied so much to everyday functioning, as to the opportunity for creative expression that affords dignity because it is recognized and validated by a community.

This study focuses on a group of nurses (n = 11) and doctors (n = 9) who have been regularly exposed to live music for the past five years, as part of a music programme targeted on children, in an Italian paediatric hospital. The aims of the study were to focus on the impact of incidental exposure to music of the hospital staff and to analyse any repercussion that such exposure had on their work.
