Whats In It For Me?

GENERAL

Research Abstract
Whats In It For Me?
Almost all nonprofit organizations seek volunteers to help with their fundraising efforts. Often they are stymied by their inability to recruit and retain effective volunteers. Examining this situation from two views - the volunteers' perspective and that of organizations successful at retaining active volunteer fundraisers - may help struggling organizations chart a path to success. This article examines what volunteers look for in the institutions for which they volunteer, why some organizations are better at recruiting and retaining volunteer fundraisers, what motivates volunteers to get involved in an organizations fundraising efforts, and how an organization can better prepare their volunteers to do fundraising.
