The 296 Project, an Art Therapy based Veterans Service Organization based in Alexandria, VA was the recipient of the prestigious ‘Veterans Award’ for 2015, presented by Mission Complete. The ‘Veterans Awards’ or "Vettys", honor those organizations that have dedicated their work to creating an America where our nation’s heroes are able to live the lives they deserve and access the assistance that is promised to them. The awards are the most prestigious in the Nation and represent a call to action only so many individuals and organizations have answered.

The only Northern Virginia based organization to actually receive an award, The 296 Project shares the honor of nomination with Bethesda, MD based Give an Hour and New York City based Cohen Veterans Center at NYU Langone Medical Center in the Veterans Mental Health category. The Vettys were presented on Veterans Day 2015 at the historic Lisner Auditorium in Washington, DC.

The mission of The 296 Project is to promote, fund, and support Art and Expressive Therapies (painting, ceramics, writing, music, etc) as a viable way to heal from trauma or traumatic brain injury. Through innovative and effective programming, we are able to offer active duty and veteran service members, their spouses, and child dependents, every necessary tool for success - entirely free of charge.
