Americans for the Arts held a leadership roundtable in Sun Valley, ID on June 26th - 28th. The Arts Leadership Roundtable brought together 30 artists, philanthropists, and corporate leaders in a proactive dialogue to explore how the arts can be utilized as a positive force for change. The focus of the roundtable was to explore the growing connection between the arts and technology.

With 2013 ending, we at Americans for the Arts find ourselves grateful for so many great arts achievements this year. There are so many partners doing amazing work in towns, cities, and states across the country--and in reflecting on this work, we wanted to especially thank the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and its staff for serving as the national lynchpin for the whole US arts field.

The grand prize winners of The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts Poster Design Competition 2012 are traveling to Washington, D.C. to accept their scholarship awards at a Congressional Reception on Capitol Hill. Joshua Allred of Rathdrum, Idaho is grand prize winner in the high school senior category of the competition.

"Most dance companies make money by selling tickets to their performances. Boise-based troupe Trey McIntyre Project has a more expansive business model: 'We've decided that we have a real asset, which is the creative process itself. We're selling that,' says John Michael Schert, the company's co-founder and executive director.

Some corporate giants are interested in the pitch. The University of Chicago Booth Business School recently brought Schert in for advice on getting inspired, and several Boise businesses have teamed up with the dance company.

"On behalf of Americans for the Arts and the Arts Action Fund, I wish to congratulate President Barack Obama and all of the national, state, and local elected leaders across the country who won their elections last night.

Andrew Nemr retells the journey of his love affair with tap dancing, some of the friends he's met along the way, and how his journey has taught him more about love than about tap dancing. With special guest, cellist, Dave Eggar.

Each year, a small group of leaders is brought together to discuss strategy for a particular topic in the arts.
