Emmy Award®-winning TV, film and stage actor and arts advocate Alec Baldwin will deliver The Americans for the Arts 25th Annual Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy on April 16 at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The lecture is presented by Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, and in partnership with Ovation, the only television network dedicated to all forms of artistic expression.

On Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the final budget agreement for FY 2012, which includes $146.255 million in funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). On Saturday morning, the same bill passed the U.S. Senate and moves to the desk of President Obama for his signature.

12-16-2011: The U.S. House passed the final FY 2012 budget agreement, which includes $146.255 million in funding for the NEA. This number is identical to President Obama's proposed budget, a cut of nearly $9 from FY 2011, and is a compromise between the House-proposed number of $135 million and the Senate-proposed number of $155 million as previously considered by their respective subcommittees.

YoungArts, the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, has announced that Americans for the Arts' President and CEO Robert L. Lynch is the recipient of their Leadership Award. YoungArts will also honor actor Robert Redford with the Arison Award and visual artist Doug Aitken with the Alumni Award. Lynch will receive his award on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala in Miami.

On Saturday, January 14, 2012, at An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala, YoungArts will honor actor Robert Redford with the Arison Award; visual artist Doug Aitken with the Alumni Award; and arts administrator Robert Lynch, President of the Americans for the Arts, with the YoungArts Leadership Award. The gala, held at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts and the J.W. Marriott Marquis Hotel, will bring together prominent artists, community leaders, philanthropists and celebrities to celebrate the 2012 national YoungArts winners.

From November 16-17, ArtsVoteIowa will present a series of free public events in Des Moines and Coralville designed to help infuse the arts into the 2012 election cycle in advance of Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses.
