Board Member of Americans for the Arts Honored for his Service in South Florida

On December 2, 2013, Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs Director Michael Spring was honored for his 30 years of service, credited with transforming Miami's cultural scene along Biscayne Boulevard and throughout the many neighborhoods and communities in South Florida. Michael Spring has served as a Board Member at Americans for the Arts for over 10 years, and Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs is one of our professional member organizations.

The difference between now and 30 years ago in South Miami is "breathtaking," stated John Richard, President and CEO of Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, and "remarkable enough to put this magic city on the global cultural map." The Arsht Center published this letter in honor of the event, which expresses their gratitude for his many years of service and the organizations and lives he has transformed.

As a gift, the Knight Foundation allowed him to pick a nonprofit to receive $100,000.00 for operating expenses, and he chose the Sherron Long's Group, the Flordia Cultural Alliance where he is Chair of the Board.
