Cover of Federal Resource Guide #1, Community Development

A new set of Federal Funding Resource Guides has been published by the Americans for the Arts Government Affairs team and is now available to download for free in our online bookstore.

The guides provide details on arts-related funding in grant topic areas covering community development, economic development, rural development, environment, and national service. A sixth guide focuses on congressional earmarks which have returned after a 10-year hiatus, renewing an important funding opportunity for arts institutions throughout the country.

The guides include:

  • Overviews of funding/resource opportunities at federal agencies that may apply to nonprofit and government arts organizations, including application deadlines, basic eligibility requirements, contexts, and links to more information.
  • Brief examples and longer case studies highlighting arts organizations that have successfully received funding through these programs.
  • Insights about how arts organizations might use these grants and tips on being a successful applicant.

Grant-seeking arts organizations should start with “Introduction to the Federal Resource Guides” to learn more and determine which of the six guides might be most useful for their situation.
