Arts Marketing Professionals Gather Nov. 7–10

Thursday, November 6, 2014

ATLANTA – Nov. 6th, 2014 - Americans for the Arts and the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs will co-host the annual National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP) Conference in Atlanta Nov. 7–10. More than 600 arts marketing professionals from around the country will gather to explore the future of arts marketing and audience engagement.

“The theme of this year’s conference, All the Places We’ll Go!, is a reflection of Atlanta’s status as a transformative, forward-thinking, and modern city,” said Robert L. Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “Atlanta’s arts and culture scene connects its powerful history to its bright future, providing the perfect backdrop for shaping and redefining the future of arts marketing and engagement.”

In more than 30 sessions with 100 speakers, arts professionals will tackle the topics of audience engagement, technology, consumer behavior, data analysis, pricing and diversity. This year’s conference will focus on hands-on learning — attendees will participate in lively debates and group workshops. In addition, two pre-conferences will deliver encouragement and actionable skills for arts professionals to improve audience engagement and better understand brand loyalty.

Keynote speakers include:

•  Steve Stoute, CEO and founder of Translation and author of “The Tanning of America: How Hip-Hop Created a Culture That Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy.” Stoute will kick off the conference by demonstrating why promoting diversity in the arts is no longer a mere challenge for cultural marketers, but a prerequisite for survival and continued relevance in today’s pop culture obsessed world.

•  MacArthur genius award winning American choreographer, performer, innovator and teacher of contemporary dance and movement Elizabeth Streb. Streb will show how arts professionals can deliver futuristic artistic experiences —through community engagement, innovative marketing strategies and new ways of thinking about art in space.

•  Sha Hwang, an expert in data visualization and entrepreneurship, who will discuss data, its roles and responsibilities, and the ways to engage with the many futures of arts cultures online.

“NAMP will be headquartered in Midtown, home of the Woodruff Arts Center, the Botanical Garden, and many other interesting places to visit,” said Camille Russell Love, executive director of the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. “We encourage attendees to venture out and experience all the cultural sites Atlanta has to offer, including the newly opened National Center for Civil and Human Rights.”

Leading sponsors of The National Arts Marketing Project Conference include:

MailChimp, Patron Manager CRM, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and MogoARTS Marketing. The Georgia Council for the Arts; the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund and The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta; The City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs; and Dance Canvas contributed generously to scholarships.
