Chris Cutler founded the investment consulting firm Manager Analysis Services, LLC [MAS] in March 2003. MAS advises endowments, foundations, and family offices on the governance and performance of their investment programs.   With respect to governance, MAS evaluates CIOs and OCIOs, assesses board governance practices, and advises institutions on their selection of board members, consultants, CIOs, and OCIOs. MAS assists clients in their selection of investment managers, performance of due diligence, and monitoring of managers and portfolios. Cumulatively MAS has reviewed about 2,000 asset managers and investment ventures. Strategies evaluated include private equity, credit, and real estate, hedge funds of all types, agriculture, venture, equities and fixed income.

Prior to founding MAS, Chris worked at Deutsche Bank from 1994 for 2003. He cofounded the stable value group, which had peak assets in its program at $15 billion. He also marketed OTC interest rate derivatives, developed structured financial products, and managed the fixed income transition management business for offshore pension plans. Chris conducted due diligence on trading strategies of the largest US fixed income managers, and of hedge funds involved in structured product vehicles.

Chris was as an economist and bank regulator at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1988 to 1994. He co-authored the Federal Reserve System's original Trading Activities Manual, and he updated Federal Reserve officials on economic ramifications of the collapse of the USSR and the protests in Tiananmen Square.

Chris has an MBA in Finance from NYU's Stern School of Business Executive Program, a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago, and is a CFA Charterholder. He also holds leadership roles in the 10,000-member NY Chapter of the CFA Institute, CFA Society New York [CFANY]. He led a successful governance reform effort in 2014, was Vice Chair of CFANY's Board of Directors, chaired the Programming Committee and the Nominating Committee, and served on the Executive Search and Audit Committees.
