Jamie Bennett [he/him] works at the intersections of nonprofits, philanthropy, and government with arts, culture, and comprehensive community development across rural, suburban, Tribal, and urban geographies. Recent clients include the American Museum of Natural History, the Barr Foundation / National Endowment for the Arts, The BIG We / the Center for Cultural Innovation, the Design Studio for Social Intervention, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, the MacArthur Foundation, the Museum Trustee Association, Starfish Accelerator, One Beat, and Walk with Amal.

Prior to working independently, Jamie was the Executive Director of ArtPlace America, a ten-year, $150 million fund that supported artists working as allies in equitable community development. He served as interim President and CEO of United States Artists and as Chief of Staff at the National Endowment for the Arts in President Obama’s administration, at the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs in Mayor Bloomberg’s administration, and to the President of Columbia University

Jamie provided strategic counsel to the Agnes Gund Foundation and worked in fundraising at the New York Philharmonic, The Museum of Modern Art, and at Columbia University.

Jamie has volunteered with the David Rockefeller Fund, the HERE Arts Center, The Heritage Center (Itówapi Owápazo) of the Red Cloud Indian School (Maȟpíya Lúta Owáyawa), the Make Music Alliance, the NeuroArts Blueprint, NEW INC, the University of Toronto’s School of Cities, and Weeksville Heritage Center.

Jamie lives, works, worships, and plays in Toronto, Canada and has been sober since 2009.
