Award-winning Actress and George Washington University alum Kerry Washington will be greeting and serving fans at Sprinkles Cupcakes in Georgetown on Saturday, October 29 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Her appearance will kick off a nine-day event benefiting Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading organization for advancing the arts and arts education. From October 29 to November 6, 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of Sprinkles Red Velvet cupcakes will be donated to Americans for the Arts.

Kerry Washington, who is the star of the upcoming network television political drama "Scandal" set in the nation’s capital, is a long-time advocate for Americans for the Arts. "I was a very lucky child. My love for the arts was fostered in school, in community arts programs and at various NY theaters and arts institutions," said Ms. Washington. "But not all kids are that lucky. That’s why I support Americans for the Arts, and why I am thrilled to join Sprinkles Cupcakes for this event. Together we are working to ensure that EVERY SINGLE PERSON has the opportunity to experience an arts education in America."

Sprinkles Cupcakes, The Original Cupcake Bakery, opened its Georgetown location in March and has a strong track record of supporting important causes having donated over $2.8 million in cash and cupcakes since its founding in 2004.
