Giving: Big Bucks, Bare Basics and Blue Skies

GENERAL

Research Abstract
Giving: Big Bucks, Bare Basics and Blue Skies

The following is from the keynote address given by Mr. Rockefeller at the 1985 Independent Sector Annual Membership Meeting and Assembly in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"To my mind at least, the seeds for greater giving of both time and money are definitely in place. The real question is how best to make them germinate. For my part, I would like to suggest three components which I believe are essential parts of a successful philanthropic greenhouse. These are: First, boldness in approach; second, rigor in application; and third, clarity of vision. I will focus my remarks on giving, but I am sure that many of them apply to volunteering as well - especially in view of the close interrelationship of these activities."
