Englewood Public Schools and Englewood Cultural Arts (a commission of the City of Englewood) have been awarded a grant from the Department of Education, Office of Innovation and Improvement, to conduct a three-year study of the impact that integrating art into elementary school has on academic performance in reading and writing. The PEAK (Progressive Education in Art+Academics for Kids) project is based on the premise that involvement in the arts improves academic achievement. Studies have shown critical links between learning in the arts and academic development. Capitalizing on this research, the PEAK project seeks to improve academic performance with a focus on learning in the arts and learning through the arts.
