GENERAL
This Business Committee for the Arts, Inc. report is an executive summary of results from a survey about business support to the arts. The survey was conducted during June and July 2001. Highlights from this survey include:

Businesses contributed a record $1.56 billion to the arts in 2000.

In 2000, the arts received 14% of total philanthropic contributions made by business.

A contributions budget, usually determined by profits, is the primary source of business support of the arts.

The majority of businesses agree that involvement with the arts can help business by offering networking opportunities, stimulating creative thinking and problem-solving, and building team spirit.
