Research Abstract
Completing Your IRS Form 990: A Guide for Tax-Exempt Organizations

This book is a line-by-line guide for helping tax-exempt organizations prepare and understand the various items reported on the IRS Form 990. Information provided may also be helpful to organizations while reviewing the form when prepared by an outsider.

The authors look at both the form and IRS instructions, examining areas of possible confusion and pointing out areas of particular scrutiny by the IRS. Throughout the guide, a hypothetical association is described to assist in understanding each section of the form. The appendices to the guide include a sample completed Form 990 and the required schedules that were prepared for the hypothetical association.
