Position Paper: Cultural & Heritage Tourism in the United States by the President's Commitee on the Arts and the Humanities

Written by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities with help from hundreds of experts from the Arts and Tourism fields, this position paper shows us trends, opportunities and suggests strategies for arts, culture and hiterage-driven tourism. The PCAH makes the case for cultural tourism, arguing that it grows the economy, preserves heritage, creates a collective national identity as well as allows for meaningful cultural exchange. Lastly, PCAH argues that arts and heritage based toursim are worth investing in, pointing to emerging technologies that will continue to make tourism and cultural attractions easily accessible to more and more populations.

This paper makes the case for cultural tourism, arguing that it grows the economy, preserves heritage, creates a collective national identity as well as allows for meaningful cultural exchange.
