"The Giving in Minnesota, 2014 Edition research is the most comprehensive analysis of charitable giving in the state. It features information on overall giving in 2012, which includes data from the fiscal years of Minnesota foundations and corporate giving programs that ended between June 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013. This is the most recent time period for which complete data are available" (Minnesota Council on Foundations 2014).

This report summary by the Minnesota Council on Foundations highlights charitable giving trends of grantmakers, foundations and individuals in Minnesota in 2012 and 2013. We learn that individual giving has been rising consistently since 2009, however grantmakers gave less charitable donations in 2012 than they had in previous years. We also see that individuals make up over 70% of charitable giving annually and that grant makers and individuals alike consistently give most to  Education.
