The National Survey of Business Support for the Arts, conducted annually in partnership with The Conference Board, looks at trends in support for the arts from small to large US businesses that participate in corporate philanthropy, employee engagement, or sponsorships. Mark Golden, CEO of Golden Artist Colors, and member of the Business Committee for the Arts Executive Board, recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Art Materials Association (NAMTA). Does your community have a business leader who champions the arts? Do they believe that the arts can encourage cultural equity? Do they know that the arts mean business? If so, you can nominate them to become part of the Business Committee for the Arts . The BCA is comprised of business leaders who are passionate about the role the arts play in advancing business goals and transforming communities. Last summer, Guido's Fresh Marketplace (located in Pittsfield and Great Barrington, MA) launched their Art Feeds Us campaign. Inspired to create a strategy that would help the arts at a time of uncertainty, this partnership worked with ten arts and cultural organizations across the county to promote membership and awareness. With a keen understanding of the way the arts contribute to a vibrant community, Guido's is bringing back their Art Feeds Us campaign, now with twelve partners.
 

Where Ar(t)e They Now? Updates from Past BCA 10 Winners

Northwest Mutual (2008, Wisconsin) is celebrating the 25th anniversary if its foundation through the Giving Gallery: Community in Process. They have commissioned works by seventeen artists that will be on display at the Northwestern Mutual Tower and then will travel throughout the US. More info here.

21c Musuem Hotel (2017, Kentucky) is opening up a new exhibition this month entitled “Dress Up, Speak Up: Costume and Confrontation.” With costumes from across times and cultures, the exhibit explores various ways that people are outfitted for resistance.
