Through a partnership with Vans Custom Culture, Americans for the Arts has created the Arts Education Navigator, a series of e-books designed to help educators, students, and advocates alike navigate the complex field of arts education. For our pARTnership community, the correlation between the arts and success in the workplace can be seen on pages 12 and 13 of Facts & Figures: data on the benefits and decline of arts education.

Building Corporate Partnerships is All About Relationships

Director of Programs at Arts & Business Council of Chicago Katie Kurcz comments on last month’s Arts & Business Council of Chicago’s workshop in which constituents learned that the secret to building cultural corporate partnerships is that there are no secrets—the core strategy is as basic as building a strong, healthy relationship. Visit the pARTnership Movement to learn more.

“I have always known that face-to-face meetings are the best way to welcome people into your artistic tent, but hearing this from the panel that stewardship does truly start with a face-to-face meeting and not a cold call or a letter campaign was invaluable advice.” - Kaela Altman, Executive Director, BoHo Theatre

Arts United Receives Multi-Year Grant from Lincoln Financial Foundation
Lincoln Financial Foundation has awarded a $280,000 multi-year grant to Arts United, a northeast Indiana-based organization devoted to creating opportunities to help arts and cultural organizations to thrive. The award will provide support for the Arts United Fund Drive—the primary means of generating over $1 million for more than 70 arts, cultural, and recreational programs each year. The award also continues Lincoln’s long-standing sponsorship of the Nonprofit Arts Internship Initiative (NAII), which gives college students the opportunity to combine classroom knowledge with real world experience. The Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group releases a dollar estimate of the value of volunteer hours every year as a way to acknowledge the work of volunteers across the country. A New Era of Employee Recognition
Organizations with high employee engagement are experiencing a 22% improvement in customer loyalty and a 21% reduction in turnover, per Aberdeen Group research. Organizations are finding that investing in a formal employee recognition program can lead to an increase in profitability, retention and customer loyalty. In fact, the 2013 edition of Workplace Trends report lists “Recognition” as a top human resource trend.
