Forum for New Ideas
The sixth annual Forum for New Ideas will be held in New York on Thursday, November 20 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at Morgan Stanley, 1585 Broadway, New York, NY.  The Forum, presented in collaboration with Arts & Business Council of New York, will explore innovative ways for arts and business to work together.  The national sponsor is Herman Miller Foundation, Zeeland, MI, and the New York sponsor is Morgan Stanley, New York, NY.

Fundraising on Facebook
Causes, an application for Facebook and MySpace that promotes online donations of time and money, reported that in its first year $2.5 million was raised for 19,445 not-for-profits.  Additionally, 12 million users registered as supporters of 80,000 not-for-profits worldwide.

Asking People to Volunteer Increases Donations
According to a study by the Center for Responsible Business at the University of California, Berkeley, people who were first asked to volunteer donated more money than those who were only solicited for donations.  The researchers concluded that asking people to volunteer triggered respondents to have emotional associations related to empathy, interacting with others and identification with a cause.  For information, www.haas.berkeley.edu.
 
Corporate Foundation Giving
The Foundation Center reports that corporate foundations gave $4.4 billion in 2007.  This was a 7% increase from 2006.  54% of corporate foundations intend to increase giving in 2008 while 29% anticipate a reduction in giving.  For information, www.foundationcenter.org.

Lexus Partners with Dallas Center for the Performing Arts
Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus Dealer Association has committed to a 5-year sponsorship of the new Dallas Center for the Performing Arts scheduled to open in October 2009.  Lexus will be the title sponsor for the Center's Broadway Series; official vehicle of the Center and its five resident companies; official valet sponsor; and will own the naming rights to the Center's two underground parking garages.  In each garage, the first-floor parking will be reserved for Lexus drivers.  The Center leveraged the high median household income of its target audience in attracting sponsors.  For information, www.dallasnews.com.  
 
Five Artists Selected to Promote Ray-Ban's New Sunglasses
To introduce a new line of the iconic Ray-Ban Wayfarers sunglasses, Ray-Ban (Luxottica Group, Milan, Italy) partnered with Marie Claire (Hearst Magazines, New York, NY) to create Project Colorize.  The artists, Scott Alger, Queen Andrea, Ron English, Tara McPherson and Toofly, created art inspired by the new Ray-Ban sunglass colors.  The art will be displayed on billboards in Manhattan and in a promotional spread in Marie Claire magazine.  For information, www.adweek.com.

Bank of America Art on Tour
Bank of America is lending pre-packaged exhibitions of art from its collection to museums in the US free of charge.  The exhibitions will be paid for from the bank's marketing division.  The largest exhibition in the new program, Reverberations: Modern and Contemporary Art from the Bank of America Collection, will be on view at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA, through September 21.  The bank is also sponsoring free admission to more than 70 museums the first weekend of every month for bank cardholders.  For information, www.pafa.edu, www.bankofamerica.com and www.promotions.bankofamerica.com/museums.
