Art Improves Advertising
A study by the University of Georgia finds that exposure to art makes consumers evaluate products mores positively.  The study also demonstrated that even an unfamiliar artwork can successfully compete with a celebrity in conveying luxury appeal.  For information, www.uga.edu.

Texas Businessman Pledges $10 million to Museum
T. Boone Pickens, a businessman and entrepeneur, pledged $10 million to the Museum of Nature & Science, Dallas, TX, for an additional building.  Pickens wants to increase museum access for children.  According to Pickens, "A museum is a starting point for them, or it's a confirmation of something they've thought about a little bit and now it's elevating them to something beyond."  For information, www.dallasnews.com.
 
Lord & Taylor Promotes Art on Fifth Avenue
Lord & Taylor department store displayed sculptures by the artist Thomas Beale, alongside fashion from the store's spring 2008 collection, in the windows of its flagship store on Fifth Avenue, New York City.  Previously, the store has exhibited works by artists Larry Rivers and Red Grooms.  For informationwww.reuters.com.

Lee Miller at Philadelphia Museum of Art
Philadelphia Museum of ArtPhiladelphia, PA is hosting a solo exhibition of the work of Lee Miller. The traveling exhibit, in celebration of the centenary of the artist's birth, contains 140 of the artist's most important images. Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana & Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo
Richard Leech and Jose Cura are the stars of this double bill. The acclaimed tenors explore the theme of love and betrayal in these two short stories.
