Discovery Green captivated visitors with Enchanted Promenade: Ten colorful, giant peony bouquets by TILT, a French light and art design studio. Enchanted Promenade was set along the majestic Brown Promenade from November 22, 2016 to February 23, 2017. The installation comes to life through color-changing LED lighting. At night, the stamens grow brighter with a blazing red light that emanates through its petals and scatters warm light throughout. Below the soaring stems, diffused lighting subtly enhances an inviting seating area for visitors to lounge and enjoy the view. TILT is a French artistic studio whose work focuses on the exploration of light and its interplay with art, architecture and space. They aim to provide unexpected and enchanting experiences by altering scale and engaging the environment in unique and unusual ways. TILT has designed light art installations throughout Europe and Asia. Enchanted Promenade marked their first presentation in the US. Discovery Green is a 12-acre park located in downtown Houston which was created by a public-private partnership between the City of Houston and the non-profit Discovery Green Conservancy. Designed by Hargreaves Associates, which also boasts London Olympic Park as one of its impressive urban projects, Discovery Green has won numerous awards for its architecture and design. Since the park opened in April 2008, it has welcomed more than 12 million visitors and hosted more than 6,000 public and private events. The Discovery Green Conservancy works with hundreds of programming partners to present three dynamic programming seasons each year most of which are free and open to the public. As a non-profit organization, the Conservancy raises all the funds needed for the programming that Houstonians enjoy. This public art work project was made possible by a grant from the Kinder Foundation.
