On November 2nd, Americans for the Arts sponsored a congressional briefing in advance of Veterans Day and the coinciding congressional district work period to share some of the latest  partnership and program work supporting Veterans and their families.
 
The Congressional Arts Caucus and its co-chairs Reps. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and Leonard Lance (R-NJ) served as coordinating hosts.

The Ovation Foundation, the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH), and Americans for the Arts (AFTA), in cooperation with the Congressional STEAM Caucus, recognized eight schools, recipients of the innOVATION STEAM Grant Awards, at a ceremony and reception held last night at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, DC. The innOVATION STEAM Grant Awards acknowledged public K-12 model STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) programs in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of integrating the arts into educational curriculum.

Americans for the Arts and the Salt Lake City Arts Council will co-host the annual National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP) Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, November 6-9. More than 500 arts marketing professionals from around the country will gather to explore the future of arts marketing and teach each other new ways to build audiences. In more than 30 educational sessions with 100 speakers, arts professionals will tackle the topics of audience engagement, emerging technology, consumer behavior, data analysis, pricing, and diversity. Attendees will participate in lively debates and group workshops, discover fresh perspectives with expert speakers, and inspire their work through crafted sessions on a variety of marketing techniques. Two preconferences held on November 6 are designed to help arts professionals bolster digital marketing strategy and explore strategic marketing leadership practices.

Purple Dreams, a documentary that chronicles a powerful theatre arts success story in an urban high-school, promises to be a model illustration of why the nation must embrace public arts education and recognize its immense role in producing engaged, successful, college and career-ready students.
 
GreyHawk Films is currently in post-production on their feature length documentary that is an inspirational testimony to the transformational power of arts in education, particularly in underserved at-risk communities.

In their first video, AMA stars Astrophysicists and television host Neil deGrasse Tyson, who is interviewed on his love of the arts.
