Today at our Annual Convention in San Antonio, Americans for the Arts released the findings from Arts & Economic Prosperity IV, the largest and most comprehensive study of its kind ever conducted.  Like the past three iterations, it documents the key role played by the nonprofit arts and culture industry in strengthening our nation's economy.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, announced today that it is presenting the 2012 Arts Education Award to Arts @ Large, an innovative program that provides multidisciplinary arts experiences for Milwaukee Public Schools K-12 students. Presented annually by the Arts Education Council of Americans for the Arts since 2007, the award honors the best in arts education program design, execution and organizational leadership.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, announced today that it is presenting the 2012 Public Art Network Award to conceptual visual artist Mel Chin. The Public Art Network Award honors innovative contributions to, and exemplary commitment and leadership in, public art. Mr. Chin will receive his award on June 7 at the Americans for the Arts Public Art Preconference in San Antonio.

Given annually since 1991, the Michael Newton Award recognizes exemplary leadership skills and extraordinary dedication to supporting the arts through a united arts fund, which is a combined effort to raise money on behalf of multiple arts institutions in the community.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, announced today that it is presenting the 2012 Alene Valkanas State Arts Advocacy Award to Sherron Long, president of the Florida Cultural Alliance. Presented by the State Arts Action Network (SAAN) of Americans for the Arts, the award honors an individual whose arts advocacy efforts have dramatically affected the political landscape at the state level. Ms. Long will receive her award on June 9 at the Americans for the Arts Annual Convention in San Antonio.
