This is the inaugural year of the award which recognizes and celebrates an exemplary project from 2015 that has successfully crossed the arts into community life in meaningful measurable ways.

Americans for the Arts will hold its annual convention in Boston from June 17–19, 2016. It is the largest national gathering of arts leaders and their partners in creative business, education, and government, and is expected to draw upwards of 1,000 attendees. A series of prominent speakers and arts innovators will explore the deep and diverse economic, civic, and social impacts that the arts generate for our nation’s neighborhoods and cities, as well as the role of the arts in creating and sustaining healthy, vibrant, and equitable communities. More than 120 speakers in 32 sessions will cover a wide range of topics including arts education, public art, arts funding, cultural equity, employee engagement, research, and advocacy. Three pre-conferences will focus on arts leadership, community transformation, and public art.

Portland, Oregon's Regional Arts & Culture Council received a $30,000 grant earlier this week to be used for Right Brain, an initiative providing integrated arts programming for K-8 students. The Right Brain Initiative works with classroom teachers and arts educators to unite the Arts with core subjects, allowing both to become more accessible to all students.

Phoenix, AZ (May 10, 2016) - The $9.6 billion fiscal year 2017 budget signed today by Governor Doug Ducey includes a $1.5 million appropriation to the Arizona Commission on the Arts. The additional funding represents a 50% increase over the 49-year-old state agency's current fiscal year budget. Derived from interest accrued on the state's Rainy Day Fund, this one-time allocation will not increase overall state spending.
