A new record number of U.S. Representatives have signed the annual “Dear Colleague” letter in support of federal arts funding, led by the bipartisan Congressional Arts Caucus co-chairs, Reps. Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY). This year, the letter asked for “at least” $167.5 million for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for FY 2020, and 184 U.S. Representatives signed the letter.

Following the release of the Trump administration’s proposed FY 2020 budget, which includes elimination the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Americans for the Arts President and CEO Robert L. Lynch released a statement.

The goal is to engage and empower arts supporters to become arts activists in order to advocate for increased public funding for the arts and educate legislators to the impact of arts, culture and creativity in California. An Advocacy Day and rally is scheduled for April 23, 2019 in Sacramento.
