Waiting in line at the DMV is something all Americans dread. But the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration has partnered with Prince George’s County Memorial Library System to place a short story kiosk, call Short Edition, in the Beltsville MVA branch.

Every summer, from Armed Services Day to Labor Day, Blue Star Museums offer free admission to active duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve. This year, the Blue Star Museums program begins on Saturday, May 18, 2019 and will end on Monday, September 2, 2019.

Americans for the Arts mourns the loss of Henry W. Bloch, co-founder of H&R block and avid champion for the arts, who tirelessly engaged businesses with the arts to ensure the arts may be enjoyed by all. He died on April 23 at age 96.

United Arts Funds are private organizations that raise money for the arts, work to broaden support for the arts, encourage arts attendance and participation, promote excellence in the arts and arts management, and ensure that arts organizations are financially stable.

Following the record-breaking U.S. House of Representatives “Dear Colleague” letter a few weeks ago, a similar letter also circulated in the U.S. Senate led by Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM) calling for support of $167.5 million for both the NEA and the NEH for FY 2020 appropriations. Nearly half of the U.S. Senate—44 Senators—signed on to this important letter.

The MTA Arts & Design program is being heralded as a leader in gender diversity in both musuem-based and public art collections. A longtime member of Americans for the Arts’ Public Art Network, MTA Arts & Design has a 48 percent representation of female artists in thier public art collection compared to a representation of 13 percent from top museums across the U.S.
